The Commander is the brain behind all S3XY products. It’s a smart OBD dongle that connects directly to your Tesla and acts as the link between your vehicle and our accessories. More importantly, it unlocks a wide range of advanced automations that enhance your driving experience - available across all Tesla models.

To get a quick overview of what the Commander can do, check out the video below:

Installation

The Commander is installed either at the right A-pillar or in the central console - these are the typical locations of the OBD ports, depending on your Tesla model and production year.

Automations

Once the Commander is installed in your Tesla and connected to the S3XY App, you unlock dozens of powerful automations.

For example, newer Tesla Model 3 and Model Y vehicles no longer include a right stalk for switching drive states. With the Commander, you can perform this action with a simple flick of the right scroll wheel.

Another standout feature is ambient lighting control for Highland and Juniper models. You can assign smart alerts and notifications based on driving conditions. For instance, when using your turn signal, the corresponding side lights up in green. If a vehicle enters your blind spot, it switches to red. When Autosteer is engaged, the interior lighting turns solid blue, and when a hands-on-wheel alert is triggered, it begins blinking to get your attention.

For Tesla vehicles without Full Self-Driving, the Continuous Autopilot feature automatically re-engages Autosteer after completing a lane change. You can also customize the delay and set a minimum speed threshold.

Newer Model 3 and Model Y vehicles include an Automatic Trunk feature. With our Actions Upon Approach automation, we’ve brought similar functionality to legacy models - allowing you to automatically open the trunk, frunk, driver’s door, or charge port as you approach the car.

If you drive a Highland or Juniper model, you’re likely familiar with Intelligent Speed Assist - the system that chimes every time you exceed the speed limit, even by just 3 km/h. Many drivers find this frustrating, especially since the speed limits displayed on the Tesla screen are not always accurate. That’s why we’ve introduced an automation that lets you mute these alerts and enjoy a distraction-free driving experience.

These are just a few examples of the many automations available with the Commander. With regular OTA updates, our automation library continues to grow, bringing even more features and customization options over time.
