Automatically Reengage the Autosteer | All Tesla Models
If you're a Tesla owner tired of manually re-engaging Autosteer and your car doesn’t have Enhanced Autopilot or FSD, we have a smart solution for you.
In this article, we’ll walk you through our automation feature, Continuous Autopilot, which automatically re-engages Autosteer a few seconds after you've completed a lane change. It will work on all Tesla Models as long as they have our Commander unit.
Want to see it in action? Check out our video tutorial:
How It Works
When you're driving with basic Autosteer, Autopilot gets disabled after a manual lane change. To reactivate it, you usually need to reach for the right stalk or, if you have a Highland model, double-press the right scroll wheel button. This repetitive action can become tedious, especially on long drives.
That’s where Continuous Autopilot comes in. It handles this task for you automatically. Just follow these simple steps:
1. Activate the Autosteer from the steering wheel or any of your S3XY products.
2. Activate your turn signal. Make sure to use the sustained signal, not the three-flash blinker.
3. Steer into the desired lane.
4. Wait for the indicator to stop blinking and the Autopilot to re-engage.
Note: Do not press the brake pedal during the maneuver. Doing so will cancel Autopilot and prevent the automation from working.
To enable this feature, go to the Commander tab in the S3XY App and select Continuous Autopilot at the top of the page. Toggle it on, and click YES when the pop-up appears. At the bottom of the page, you’ll find a couple of customization options:
The first one allows you to set a time delay when the lane change is completed, after which Autopilot should reactivate. Play around with it to find what works best for you.
The second option lets you set the minimum speed at which the feature will be active. Below this threshold, it will be disabled.
Conclusion
As you can see, our feature works in a similar fashion to the Enhanced Autopilot, but spares the extra cost of $2,000. Just make sure to follow the necessary steps, and you can enjoy a much more comfortable trip.
