The latest Tesla Model 3 and Y come with a handy feature that shifts the car into Park when the driver unbuckles their seatbelt. It spares you the extra steps of tapping the Main screen while holding the brake pedal. Unfortunately, this function wasn’t available for the older Models… until now.

We tend to take great ideas from Tesla, such as this one, and make them available for every model. That’s why we built our own automation called Park If Unbuckled.

If you want to see it in action, watch the full tutorial:

How does it work?

This feature works just like Tesla’s original implementation - when you unbuckle your seatbelt, the car automatically shifts into Park. The key difference is that we’ve made it available for Model S/X and Model 3/Y vehicles built between 2018 and 2024.

To enable it, open the Commander tab in the S3XY app and scroll down until you see Park If Unbuckled.

As mentioned earlier, one of the main benefits is convenience - it saves you time by eliminating the need to press the brake pedal and tap the Main Screen.

A less obvious advantage is for those who own multiple Teslas - especially if one comes with this feature by default and the other doesn’t. This keeps the experience consistent across your vehicles, so make sure you give it a try.
