Preheat Your Tesla’s Battery Remotely | Update 5.12

During the winter season or if you live in a colder climate, warming up your car’s battery will help you charge faster and spend less time at the station. Tesla has a built-in feature that automatically starts the preconditioning process when you navigate to a Supercharger.
But thanks to our S3XY products, you can manually start the preheating cycle any time you want. With update 5.12, we took things further by allowing you to automatically start warming the battery remotely while you're at home, and it works on all Tesla Models we support. In this article, you will learn how we made it possible and how to set it up.

How does it work?
The logic behind this automation is that we’ve tied it to Tesla’s Cabin Preconditioning feature. This ensures the car stays awake and prevents our Commander unit from going to sleep.
To set it up properly, follow the steps below:
1. After installing our unit, open the S3XY App and go to the Commander tab.
2. Scroll down, enter Remote Battery Preheating, and enable it.
3. Just below the toggle, set a temperature marker that tells the Commander when to initiate the preheating cycle.
4. Open the Tesla app, activate cabin preconditioning, and set the temperature to the value you selected in the S3XY App in the previous step.
Once you complete all of these steps, battery preheating will start automatically. We recommend keeping the target temperature at around 40°C. To maintain better control over the warming process and avoid unnecessary energy consumption, you can set a target temperature to ensure the battery reaches an optimal condition for fast charging. Once that temperature is reached, the preheating cycle will stop and resume again when the battery temperature drops by 2°C.
Note: Your Gen2 Commander must be paired as a key for this feature to work. If you need a step-by-step guide, click the link provided here.
