To close out 2025, we’re releasing another major update 5.12. Packed with new automations and improvements to existing features, this update includes several highly requested additions from our amazing community. In this article, we’ll walk you through everything that’s new.

If you prefer to see these features in action, make sure to watch the video below:

New Automations

Disable ELDA

Models: Legacy 3 and Y, Model S and X

Requirements: Gen2 Commander installed at the front right A-pillar port

Tesla’s Emergency Lane Departure Avoidance is a safety feature that steers your car back into your lane if you happen to drift out of the solid side line. When it’s triggered, it produces a sound to get your attention. The issue occurs when you drive through roads with mixed-up lines and markings, which is when the beeping starts to become irritating.

That’s why we created an automation called Disable ELDA, which automatically turns off the alert, but lets you keep the safety benefits.

To ensure it works correctly, open your Tesla’s Autopilot settings and set Lane Departure Avoidance to either Warning or Assist. Then open the S3XY App, go to the Commander tab, and select Disable ELDA. Read the instructions in the pop-up carefully, tap Accept, and enable the toggle.

If you keep Lane Departure Avoidance set to Warning, the steering wheel will vibrate when you cross the solid side line. If you choose Assist, the system will gently steer you back into your lane and play a soft, less intrusive chime.

Keep in mind that the Emergency Lane Departure Avoidance toggle will appear turned ON inside your Autopilot settings, even though the feature has been disabled.

Remote Battery Pre-Heating

Models: S3XY

This next automation does exactly what the name suggests: you can now start battery pre-heating remotely—perfect for warming up at home without navigating to a Supercharger.

We achieved this by linking our system to Tesla’s cabin preconditioning, ensuring the car stays awake while preventing the Commander from falling asleep.

How to set it up:

1. Open the S3XY App and go to the Commander tab.

2. Select Remote Battery Pre-Heating and enable the toggle.

3. Choose a temperature marker that tells the Commander when to begin heating the battery.

4. Open the Tesla App and start cabin preconditioning. Set the same temperature value you selected in step 3. The battery preheating will then begin automatically.

We believe 40°C to be the optimal temperature for full-speed charging without energy waste. To help maintain this range, we added a setting that lets you select a target temperature. Once the battery reaches it, preheating pauses and resumes only when the temperature drops by 2°C.

Note: Your Gen2 Commander must be paired as a key for this feature to work. If you need a step-by-step guide, click the link provided here.

Ambient Light Effects

Ambient Light Effects: Highland, Juniper

S3XY Strip: Legacy 3 & Y, Highland, Juniper

Requirements: Gen2 Commander/Controller installed at the front right A-pillar

A while back, we added smart effects to the built-in light strips of the Model 3 Highland and the Model Y Juniper. These alerts included turn signals and blind spot indications, Autopilot hands-on-wheel warning, greeting animation, and more.

With update 5.12, we added even more light effects, such as:

- Speed Limit Warning flashes the ambient light when you exceed the speed limit. You can set a minimum speed threshold at which the feature becomes active, as well as an offset that determines how far above the speed limit the warning should trigger.

- Charging Animation that makes the light strip pulse when you plug your car into the charging station.

- A smart effect that notifies you when the battery starts its preheating cycle, and it switches to another color once the battery reaches its target temperature.

For our S3XY Strip, we’ve added two highly requested new controls:

- You can now copy and paste colors from the color wheel across all features, eliminating the need to match them manually.

- You can preview your selected animation without putting the car in Drive or plugging it in to charge.

Actions Upon Approach

Models: 3 & Y (non-Juniper)

This automation is perfect when your hands are full after shopping or running errands. It automatically opens your driver’s door, trunk, or frunk—without needing the Tesla app.

How it works:

1. Open the S3XY App and enable Actions Upon Approach in the Commander tab.

2. Choose a Single Press action: Climate Keep Only, Open Driver’s Door, Open Trunk, Open Frunk, or Unlock Chargeport.

3. (Optional) Assign a Double Press action using the same list.

4. Set a countdown timer. When you leave the vehicle, the timer activates Climate Keep Mode to keep the car and the Commander awake.

5. Open the driver’s door and press its button once or twice, depending on which action you want to trigger.

6. Return within the set timeframe, and your action will execute instantly.

To better understand it, check out the example setup below

Single Press: Open Frunk

Double Press: Open Driver’s Door

Timer: 120 minutes

How it works:

After opening the driver’s door, press the button once to open the frunk, or twice to open the driver’s door. Return within two hours, and your chosen action triggers automatically.

We also added a toggle that automatically opens the driver’s door every time you approach the car - no manual trigger needed. Just make sure your Tesla stays awake via Sentry Mode or another method so the Commander doesn’t fall asleep.

Gear-Based Ride Height

Models: S & X

The next automation allows you to choose at what height your Model S or X should automatically adjust to when in Drive and Park. For example, you can set it to be at its highest, so that you can easily enter your vehicle, and once you switch to D, the car’s suspension will lower to give you that sports-car vibe.

Cameras On Folded Mirrors

Models: S, X, Highland, Juniper

When you are parking your Tesla  forward in narrow spaces, you need to know how close the rear of your car is to the edge of the wall. Typically, you’d rely on your side mirrors for that, but in tight spaces, they’re at risk of getting damaged, so you fold them, and you have to use your camera instead.

This is where our automation comes in. When you enable it in the Commander tab inside the S3XY App, every time you fold your side mirrors, the side and rear cameras will activate, giving you more visibility of your surroundings, making maneuvering in a tight spot a lot easier.

There is also an additional toggle that turns off the cameras when the side mirrors are unfolded.

Although the Model 3 Highland and Model Y Juniper have a dedicated steering-wheel button for the cameras, you still need to press it each time after you fold the mirrors to toggle the view. With our automation, that extra step is no longer necessary.

Extra Features

We didn’t just add new automations - we also add improvements to our products:

- Knob Page Management: Reorder pages directly in the S3XY App by pressing and holding the Knob visualization and moving pages with the arrow controls—no need to delete and recreate pages.

- Cleaning Mode: Locks the Knob so you don’t accidentally trigger actions while cleaning your interior.

- Dog Mode Integration: Locks the Knob while simultaneously activating Tesla’s Dog Mode.

- Grok Command Support: If Grok is available in your region, you can now trigger the Grok Command using your S3XY Product.

- Truck Thank You: A new action that flashes the hazard lights one at a time to thank truck drivers for letting you merge.

- Battery Target Temperature: You can set a precise target temperature when manually preheating your battery using our products.
