The Commander
The Knob works in conjunction with our OBD dongle, called the Commander, which is installed in the right A-pillar port. It draws data from your Tesla via the CAN bus and then communicates that information to our ecosystem of S3XY products.
That is why it is important to pair your Knob with the Commander and the S3XY App before you start doing any customizations.
Now, let’s move on to the 3 most used features by our users.
Wiper Controls
One of the most popular ways our community uses the S3XY Knob is for adjusting the windshield wipers. Thanks to the dial's haptic feedback, you can feel each adjustment as you rotate it, making it much easier to select the desired wiper speed without taking your eyes off the road.
Normally, adjusting the wipers requires pressing the dedicated button on the steering wheel and then using the left scroll wheel to select the speed, while the setting is shown on the center display. That means your attention is split between the steering wheel, the screen, and the road ahead.
With the S3XY Knob, everything is controlled through the rotary dial, giving you a quicker and more intuitive way to adjust your wipers while keeping your focus on driving.
Passenger Door and Seat
Many owners also use the Knob's side buttons to make life more convenient for their passengers. For example, one button can instantly pop open the passenger door, while another can bring up a dedicated seat controls page.
From there, you can quickly move the passenger seat backward to make it easier for taller passengers to get in, or slide it forward to create additional legroom for those sitting in the rear. It's a simple but practical way to adjust the cabin without having to fumble on the touchscreen.
Dynamic Brake Lights
A while back, we introduced a feature that lets you flash your taillights on demand. Many owners use it as a simple way to communicate with drivers behind them - for example, to encourage tailgaters to leave a bit more space.
It's also useful when reversing into a parking space, as flashing the taillights can be used to alert pedestrians and nearby drivers, helping communicate that you're maneuvering.
