S3XY Buttons For Your Tesla | Full Walkthrough
The S3XY Buttons allow you to quickly execute over 100+ actions on your Tesla. If you are a new user, you might still be a bit confused about how they work, and if you have been part of our community for a while, there are probably certain improvements that we implemented in the past year that you are unaware of.
In this article, we are giving you a complete user guide on everything you need to know about the S3XY buttons - from pairing, to troubleshooting, to replacing the battery, and much more, so that you can quickly start reaping the benefits.
If you prefer a visual tutorial, we have that too:
How to Pair Your Buttons
Before you start programming your S3XY buttons, you need to have our Commander unit installed in your Tesla. After that, just complete the following steps for a seamless pairing:
1. Open the S3XY App and navigate to the Buttons tab.
2. Press the “Add S3XY Button” at the bottom of the page.
3. A pop-up will appear, prompting you to press and hold the physical button you want to pair with the Commander.
4. Hold the button until the connection is successful.
Note: If the app gives you an error, just repeat the process.
By default, you will already have the Open Glovebox feature assigned to your button. You can try it out to test the connection.
How to Assign Actions
If you want to program a new action, tap on the assigned feature to open the menu with all the actions that are supported by our buttons. Navigate to the one you want or use the search bar at the top of the page to find it quicker.
Since some features come with specific instructions on how to use them, make sure to read the full description. And if you are still unsure what they do, test them out by pressing the “Try Action” button at the bottom left of the page.
Note: Certain features will only work during specific drive states - Drive, Park, Reverse, etc.
Once you have selected your feature, simply press the “Save Action” button in the bottom right corner.
Under your assigned action, another button will appear, called “Add Another Action.” This is because the S3XY Buttons allow you to also run Macros, meaning you can assign up to 3 actions to a single press. Each button can have up to 3 Macros to it - single, double, and long press - which totals 9 features assigned to a single button.
Note: Keep in mind that assigning double and long presses will result in a slight delay. That is because the system is figuring out which of the 3 Macro options you want to use.
Change Name/ Remove Button
You change the name of your buttons by tapping on the visualization icon. For example, you can name it based on the location where you put it in your car.
If you no longer want to use a particular button, you can remove it by scrolling to the bottom of the page and selecting “Remove Button”. This will remove the button from the app and delete its entire setup.
Troubleshooting / Resetting
Sometimes your buttons might not work as you expected, which may require a reset/ troubleshooting. Press and hold the button for 15 seconds or so, or until the small light stops flashing. Then re-pair the button through the App, following the same steps we laid out above.
How to Replace the Battery
To replace the battery, follow these steps:
1. Carefully remove the black bezel by pushing the small notch on the side. You can use a tool to assist you.
2. Gently remove the components until you reach the PCB and the battery holder.
3. Remove the old battery and replace it with a new CR2032 coin cell.
4. Reassemble the parts and press them firmly together. You can put the old bezel back or replace it with a new one, purchased from our website.
