The S3XY App is the hub from which you can configure all of your S3XY Products, look at important stats and insight about your Tesla, and get access to a fully customizable Dashboard. All the data comes from the Commander, plugged into the car’s OBD port. In this article, we are going to deep dive into all of that and much more. So strap in because we have a lot to unpack.

The Stats

When you open the S3XY app, you will see a minimalistic version of our S3XY Dashboard at the very top. At the bottom, there will be all the tabs from which you can customize your S3XY products.

Finally, in the middle of the Home Page, you will see six tiles which, upon pressing, will give you two options:

  1. Add a stat
  2. Add an action

You can also adjust the number of tiles on display from 3 to 12. Stats provide you with key insights about your car, such as:

  • Remaining Capacity,
  • Buffer
  • Battery Temperature,
  • Battery Degradation
  • Total kWh AC Charge
  • Total kWh DC Charge
  • Maximum Dicharge
  • Maximum Regen
  • Total Power
  • Rear-motor Temperature
  • Front-motor Temperature (if you own a Tesla with one)

And much more.

For example, while Tesla shows your car’s current State of Charge, they don’t display your actual remaining capacity. So when you hit 0% SOC, you get range anxiety, probably not knowing that you have a bit more juice left to make it to the next charging station. The S3XY App shows your actual remaining capacity, which includes the buffer, which you can also see as a separate stat. That way, you will be more aware of the actual range you have left.

Another data that could not be seen via Tesla’s UI or the Tesla App is your battery temperature. The reason this stat is valuable is that it can affect your charging speed, especially during colder months. We recommend keeping your battery temperature between 30℃ and 40℃. In fact, we have done a couple of tests where we measured charging speeds with a cold vs warm battery, and we found that you can cut your time spent on a charging station almost in half if you have preheated your battery in advance.

For a more detailed breakdown of these tests, check out the videos below:

Our users like to monitor their battery health, and to make that easier for them, we included a stat that shows the percentage of their battery degradation. It gets all the data straight from the BMS, so we know that the measurements are reliable. To get the most accurate readings, make sure to recalibrate the Battery Management System by draining your battery almost fully and then charging it to 100%.

Other neat stats include AC and DC charge, which show the total kWh received from a fast charger and a regular charge, respectively.

And these are only a few from dozens of others, and we plan to add even more in the future. Once you have selected your stat, all you have to do is press the “Save Stat” button and it will get assigned to one of the tiles.

The Actions

As we mentioned earlier, you can also assign an action, choosing from over 200 Tesla features. Each one has a detailed description, explaining what it does and what conditions and requirements need to be fulfilled in order for the action to be executed properly.

When the S3XY App connects to the Commander, you will only be shown the options available specifically for your Tesla Model, but if you want to check our entire database, simply click the filter icon in the top right corner. You can scroll up and down, exploring all the options, or you can use the search bar at the top of the page to find the function you are looking for faster.

Once you have picked the action you want, simply press the “Save Action” button, and you are set.

The Dashboard

No walkthrough of our S3XY App will be completed without talking about our S3XY Dashboard. As we mentioned earlier, on top of the Home Page, you will see a minimalistic version of it, which you can expand by pressing on the speedometer.

Then begins the fun part. By tapping on the screen once, the Settings menu will appear in the top right corner, from where you can start customizing it.

You can select from several presets, some of which include extra stats and action tiles, or you can keep it sleek and minimalistic. Try out different setups and find the best fit for your driving style.

On the left side of the Settings page, you have a few toggles; two of them would allow you to set glowing indications of the blind spot and the brake lights. There’s also Frank’s Mode, which would make the blinkers appear bigger on the Dashboard for anyone having issues seeing them.

And, of course, let’s not forget the HUD mode. By toggling it on, your phone will start functioning as a traditional heads-up display once you put it under the windshield. Аnd if you need to adjust the brightness or the font size, you can do so by swiping across the screen.

Example Setup

We came up with a six-tile setup that you can try for yourself.

Top Left: Set regen to 100%

Bottom Left: Set regen to 50%

Middle-Top: Remaining Capacity Stat

Middle-Bottom: Battery Preconditioning

Top Right: Opening the right door

Bottom Right: Move the front right seat backward

Of course, as you try out different options, you will eventually come up with your own setups. Just go out there and experiment.

Conclusion

The S3XY App is the hub where you can customize your S3XY gadgets, monitor important stats about your Tesla, and use a customizable Dashboard. Despite all of that, we are going to continue improving it by adding more unique stats and features.
