Our Summer Update 6.8 introduces new controls and features for our smart instrument cluster - the S3XY Dash - designed to transform the way you interact with your Tesla Model 3 / Y.

In this article, we'll provide a detailed breakdown of everything introduced in this software version and explain how each new feature works.

Knob Mirroring

The first feature was one of the most highly requested by our community. It brings together two of our smartest products - our fully customizable rotary controller (the S3XY Knob) and our smartest instrument cluster (the S3XY Dash) - creating a seamless experience between the two.

With Knob Mirroring, every turn of the dial, button press, setting adjustment, or triggered action is instantly reflected on the Dash's display. This gives you visual feedback directly in front of you while having full control of your Tesla's functions at your fingertips.

To use Knob Mirroring, simply make sure Update 6.8 is installed on your S3XY Knob, S3XY Dash, and Commander. Once everything is updated, the feature will be enabled automatically.

If for some reason you prefer not to use Knob Mirroring, go to the Dash Settings → Controls, scroll down to Knob Display, and select Off. You can also choose how long the mirrored controls remain on the Dash - 2, 3, or 4 seconds - before the display automatically returns to the page you were previously viewing.

An example use case would be while driving, with a dedicated Knob page containing the features you use most on the road.

For example, you could assign regen controls and manual battery preheating to the top side buttons, fan speed and the rear fan to the bottom buttons, and conveniently place the temperature controls on the dial.

With Knob Mirroring, you can operate all of these features while seeing every adjustment directly on the Dash, without having to look down at the Knob's display.

 

Apple CarPlay / Android Auto Controls

The second major feature we've implemented is the ability to control your S3XY Dash using the right scroll wheel, including Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

With a hard flick of the scroll wheel, you can switch between your Dash pages, while a gentler scroll lets you navigate through the individual widgets on the screen. An outline highlights the widget you currently have selected.

Once you reach the CarPlay or Android Auto widget, simply push the scroll wheel to the right to enter it. From there, you can use the same scrolling controls to navigate through your apps and push right to make a selection. When you're done, push the scroll wheel to the left to go back and continue navigating through the interface.

This is especially useful for folks who have been following our recommendation and have mounted their S3XY Dash behind the windshield for an HUD experience. With this new functionality, you no longer have to lean forward to reach out the Dash’s display to execute actions or navigate apps.

Once you activate Autopilot or FSD, the Dash scroll wheel controls are automatically disabled to avoid interfering with Tesla's native Autosteer controls. This allows you to continue using the right scroll wheel to adjust your Autopilot speed and following distance without any conflicts.



New Dash Gauges

With Update 6.8, we've introduced two new gauges for the S3XY Dash.

The first features a minimalist design with a larger, easy-to-read font and two configurable stats positioned at the top and bottom. You can choose to display information such as your estimated range, state of charge, regen level, or pedal position.

The second is a power gauge, which works similarly to the speedometer on the S3XY App dashboard. As you press the accelerator, the needle moves clockwise to visualize the vehicle's power output. Once you lift off the accelerator and regenerative braking kicks in, the needle moves counterclockwise to signify the loss of power.



Auto Window Drop Fix

A while back, we introduced a Commander feature that automatically lowers the driver's window when the door opens, making it easier to get in and out of the car in tight parking spaces.

However, we received reports that the feature wasn't working properly on some Model Y Juniper vehicles built from 2025 onward. To investigate the issue, we even had to source a vehicle from a user, experiencing the problem, and discovered that some newer cars use a different signal on the CAN bus.

With Update 6.8, we've implemented a fix to account for this difference, allowing the automation to work seamlessly across supported Tesla vehicles.


Battery Preconditioning Fix

One of our signature features is manual battery preheating, which allows you to warm up the battery before arriving at a charging station, helping it reach an optimal temperature for fast charging. However, recent Tesla software updates caused the feature to stop working properly on some vehicles.

With Update 6.8, we've introduced a fix that restores the functionality.
